Anecdote
In the 1990s, I had cause to visit a solicitor. She charged £300 an hour.
I was offered a cup of tea and a biscuit. Out of politeness, I accepted.
The solicitor's final bill came to £400, the additional £100 being for "hospitality".
I know inflation is on the rise again, but it has some way to go before it reaches £100 for a cup of tea and a biscuit.
It wasn't even a very good cup of tea.
