Dheghōm

Anecdote

Those of you not interested in young adult fiction about a Victorian girl with a theoretically possible superhero power might want to test out another book I wrote over the summer when I was supposed to be playing games. This one is full-on Science Fiction, but it has an unusual format, being made up of disjointed yet inter-connected pieces of evidence (called "Matters").

I'm releasing it three chapters at a time, every few days. This is so you can comment on the story so far. Most are only a few pages, but a few are longer and a few are much shorter. It also means that people who see later batches can get on board before it's finished.

As usual, I'm generally happy with the book but am concerned about a few parts. I might have been a bit heavy-handed in places, trying to make sure that the actual plot line that emerges is clear.

The book is called Dheghōm, by the way, for reasons that become apparent in Matter 4.

I haven't chosen a cover yet, so will be using ones on my shortlist to illustrate the posts about releases of chapters (so you have a fighting chance of noticing them).

Don't worry, it's not a Christmas story — the timing is just coincidence.

Oh! I should tell you where it is!

If you want to look at the fancy o-with-a-bar-on-top URL, it's http://xn--dheghm-fgb.com/.
If you want the directory this points to, it's https://www.youhaventlived.com/dhegh%c5%8dm/.
If you just want the first three chapters with no half-finshed web page listing them, they're https://www.youhaventlived.com/dhegh%c5%8dm/Matter%201.pdf, https://www.youhaventlived.com/dhegh%c5%8dm/Matter%202.pdf and https://www.youhaventlived.com/dhegh%c5%8dm/Matter%203.pdf.

I am already regretting choosing a name with a non-ASCII character in it, but that's proto-Indo-European for you.
