Bezique

Anecdote

I bought some more old playing cards recently. They were on eBay with a "buy it now" price, so I bought it then.

They're Bezique cards, meaning they don't have the 2-6 of each suit. As I've mentioned before, I usually avoid these except to give them away, but I did want these for two reasons. Firstly, there are two packs, not just one. Secondly, they're in their own, original box.

Boxes for playing cards of this kind of date (square-edged, unturned, no duty ace, no index, uncoloured faces: 1869) don't normally survive because people kept them in special, wooden containers rather than the flimsy packaging they came in. This one has survived, as its packaging is not flimsy and there are two packs that need to be kept together.

As for what I intend to do with these now I've acquired them, well my plan is to keep them for ever and ever and ever.
