Tower of Jewels

Weird

Someone has grown one of these in the local allotment:



It's an "echium tower of jewels". Apparently, they're native to the Canary Islands. I guess that means West Bergholt has a climate like Tenerife.

These plants live for two years then die. The bees seem to like this one, but they're wasting their time if they think they're going to find another one in the vicinity to pollinate.

It's OK, they're not carniverous.
