Autumn Begins

Weird

The TV weather forecasters seem to think that today is the first day of Autumn (apparently in the belief that this qualifies as forecasting the weather), but I'm a stickler for tradition so I always go with the 21st of the month for my equinoxes.

Either way, it was therefore inevitable that I would come across these products for sale in Sainsbury's today:

Directly opposite these chocolate Father Christmases were Hallowe'en costumes.

Ah, Autumn: season of mist and mellow fruitfulness and the early commercial appropriation of religious festivals.
