Anecdote
When I went to London yesterday, I found myself sitting in the "quiet carriage" on the train, where signs indicate that we shouldn't use mobile phones, computers, music players or anything else that causes noise. I duly switched off my phone.
During the course of the 1-hour journey, 6 people received mobile phone calls and another gawd-knows-how-many made calls of their own.
This being Britain, I punished them with disapproving looks.
