Anecdote

The price of a Cadbury's Creme Egg at Colchester North Station is 65p.

OK, so it's a train station and they always have a heavy mark-up there, and in town you can get them in two-for-a-pound deals; nevertheless, they are charging 65p for a basic creme egg.

Forty years ago today, Britain switched to decimal currency. If someone had said back then that we would be paying 13 shillings for a Cadbury's Creme Egg, it would have been regarded with horror.

No, I didn't buy one. Instead, I got a Crunchie for 15 shillings...
