The instructions alongside the Quick Sudoku in The Independent read: "There's no maths involved — you solve the problem with reason and logic". What's maths if it's not reason and logic? What they mean is that it involves no arithmetic.
I wrote them a letter about this, but they didn't print it. Probably just as well, given I accidentally misspelled Sudoku as Soduku...
