The Tautologist

Anecdote

One of those online conversation-starters that's been going around for the past few months invites readers to pronounce English words that end in -les as if they were Greek names (Particles as Particleez, that sort of thing).

This reminded me of a comic I saw reproduced in a games zine in my teens, Testicles the Tautologist. I believe I still have a copy of it in the attic somewhere, but after numerous sorties to retrieve it I came back empty-handed (and cobweb-haired). I therefore opted to buy the original magazine in which it appeared.

This wasn't easy either. Its first appearance was in Skull Comics #3 from 1971 (so it's over 50 years old). Skull Comics did not last long, on account of how its content was, er, well, rather more necrophiliac in nature than most people find appealing. Let's just say that I won't be buying another one. Anyway, buy this one I did, and a scan of the Testicles the Tautologist cartoon can now be read on https://www.youhaventlived.com/ttt/index.html.

Warning: informal experiments in my teens indicated that only one person in six will find this cartoon funny, but that this one person will find it absolutely hilarious. Yes, I'm among the one in six.
