Listings

Anecdote

In 2017, I was told that Essex University's new STEM building was going to have a display cabinet containing items of historical importance in the university's development of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. I was asked if I would like to contribute anything.

I gave away my oldest MUD-related materials many years ago, but I still had a couple of listings from the mid-1980s that would be interesting. I duly climbed up into the attic and sought them out.

The one on the left is dated 30-May-85; the one on the right is dated 20-Feb-86.

I'd printed them off so that I could write edits on them that I intended to make. Both of them indeed contain such edits, but in the case of the older one you can see green ink through to the front page. This makes it look rather ugly in comparison to the younger one.

I took the photos so the university would have a choice over which one to take: the older one or the prettier one.

I didn't hear back about it. No display cabinet materialised in the STEM building, though, so that's probably why.

It's probably safe to delete the photos now.
