Anecdote
I found a small metal box in the attic when having that clear-out a couple of weeks ago. Inside the box are pen nibs.
I don't know how long ago people stopped using pen nibs, so these are probably older than I am. Quite why anyone would have kept them, though, is not apparent.
I think I'll leave it awhile until I recycle them, in case I later come across the pen they fitted. I rather suspect it's long gone, though.
Either way, it wouldn't make my handwriting any less illegible.
