7:14pm on Tuesday, 30th January, 2018:

New PC

Anecdote

I received an email yesterday evening telling me that my new PC would arrive sometime today before 6pm.

That's a little short notice. I was at work from 7:30am then I had tro go to a meeting in London and I didn't get back until 6:30pm.

Fortunately, my younger daughter had the day off. Unfortunately, she had to spend 3 hours driving to and from Newmarket with one of her grandparents. Fortunately, the PC arrived after she got back. I don't know what Fedex would have done if she hadn't been in, but either they'd have dropped it off at an irritated neighbour or they'd have left it in full view of passers-by and very probably the weather.

f they'd told me a week in advance that it was being delivered on a Tuesday, that would have been fair warning. Telling me 6 hours before Tuesday began was not fair warning. Luck was with me this time, but I'll probably have to pay for it with something bad happening to balance it all out.

I could have added £19 to my bill and have the PC delivered on a Saturday, but that's a rip-off.

Now to try and get the PC out of its packaging and crank it up. I may be gone some time...
