Anecdote
I had cause to go through Castle Park in Colchester this morning, on my way to buy tickets for Sunday's fireworks display. I came across this near the entrance:
It looks as if it might have been quite pretty when the flowers were out, but it's a bit late now. That this is the first time I've seen it shows how infrequently I visit this part of Colchester these days.
The image is more flattering than the reality, by the way. Just out of shot to the right was a white van owned by the council, which workers were using as a portable shed.
