While I was away in Sweden catching a life-threatening Scandinavian cold, these playing cards arrived:
They're a Dondorf number 402 set, known as "Prince", which was in production 1926-1933. I don't have the box or the joker(s) for it, but the tax stamp is a Frankfurt/Main one that was superseded in 1918, so I suspect I'm looking at an early set.
It looks as if the Queen of Diamonds has aged rather better than her husband.
