Anecdote
Our car has been needing a wash for the past about four weeks. OK, maybe five weeks... I've been putting it off because I knew I was going to have it serviced, and the people who service the car usually valet it, too.
Yesterday, I had it serviced. Yesterday, I learned the difference between "usually" and "invariably". Basically, they valet it as a courtesy if they have the time. They didn't have the time.
Now I'm going to have to get out the ol' chisel and remove that protective layer of grime myself.
