Currency Symbols

Outburst

Here's part of an article from the travel section of today's Guardian :

Hmm, $7,000 pesos? But $ is the currency symbol for the peso: this is like writing £7,000 pounds — it's stating the currency twice. I'd have hoped that the travel section of a newspaper might be alert to such errors, but apparently not.

Oh well, at least it's not the £1.50p syntax I occasionally see on market stalls.
