Heavy Stamp

Outburst

My dad sent me a letter that arrived today. It appears that, having got it weighed to see which stamp to put on it, the weight of that stamp pushed it over the limit and into the next category (a whole 6p more expensive).

Well, actually a whole £1.06 more expensive:



So to "handle" a letter that has 6p too low a stamp on it costs £1? Jeez, I suppose I should count myself lucky they didn't put a super-heavy sticker on the envelope hiking the weight up a further category.

Why is it that handling fees are always a round number? It's almost as if they were trying to fine people rather than cover the actual cost of handling...
