Wedding Day

Anecdote

From my last two posts, you'll perhaps have noticed that I'm currently in Bristol. This is because it was my elder daughter's wedding day yesterday. The couple had been formally married on Tuesday in a 10-minute visit to a Registry Office, but a marriage isn't the same as a wedding; yesterday was the wedding.

It went surprisingly well, given how neither party involved likes making definitive decisions about matters concerning which they have no opinion ("I don't care what colour napkins we have, but I have to tell the caterer what to bring! Augh!").

All the speeches were good, even mine judging by the feedback I received. It was a powerpoint presentation; I'll show you it if my daughter approves — it includes photos of her when she was a child, so she may well not.

The food was apparently very good, but it was vegetarian so came from an unfamiliar cuisine as far as I'm concerned. Even the potatoes weren't As Normal Potatoes. I did like the cake, though!

Overall, it was a very agreeable day, and I got to chat to lots of interesting people, too.

My daughter isn't changing her surname, so I'm looking forward to freaking her out by calling her Mrs Bartle.
