I want to Ride my Bicycle

Anecdote

For my birthday, my wife got me a new bicycle. It's nothing special, it's just an ordinary bicycle I can use for going to the shops, possibly the train station and, if I feel especially reckless, the university. I got it because I didn't trust the Sturmey-Archer gears on my old bike any more. I rather like the idea of being able to put pressure on a pedal and not have it slip into neutral in reply. I once had that happen when I was standing up in the pedals going uphill; I came off the bike as a result and still have the scars on my right hand. That was 30 years or so ago, which shows you how long I've had it...

I managed to get it into the car (rather difficult) and out of the car when I got home (rather more difficult) and am keen to take it for a spin. However, it's snowing.

I'm not that keen to take it for a spin. Perhaps I'll wait until tomorrow, or, if it's cold, May.
