Anecdote
When I got back from my hols I ordered a new clock off the ol' Internet to replace my old one that died, and today it arrived. It looks good, it's easy to read, it tells me what the time will be in an unspecified number of minutes' time. It does everything a wall clock should do — and more!
Unfortunately, the "and more" is "ticks loudly". I. Can't. Help. But. Tune. In. To. It. Every. Few. Seconds.
Augh! I'm going to have to wear headphones the whole time or find some way to dampen in down.
