Yesterday, I was shown around the Reichstag by a member of the German parliament. Today, I sat on a panel next to a different member of the German parliament, and answered a question directed at me by a third member of the German parliament in the audience.
I can't conceive of anything remotely similar to this happening in the UK, yet the Germans seem to think that they're the ones whose legislature is behind the times.
I did try to tell them how impressed I was, but I don't think they believed me...
