I saw this photo in the Guardian this morning:
At first, I thought it was one of those humanoid Japanese robots that look close to being lifelike but are somehow disturbingly creepy — a phenomenon known as the uncanny valley. However, it turns out that it's Valerie Jarrett, whom Barack Obama is considering for high office in his administration. It's just a bad photo of her (albeit one supplied by Getty Images, and therefore being used by several newspapers). The Universiyt of Chicago standard headshot is much more lifelike.
So, the uncanny Valerie, then.
