11:29am on Saturday, 20th January, 2007:
I discovered today that there's a pub in Grantham, Lincolnshire, called the Beehive Inn, which has as its sign an actual beehive, home to a swarm of South African bees, that has been there since 1830.
I'm glad this idea of versimilitude in pub signs didn't gain any purchase. The pub at the end of our road is The Queen's Head.
