Anecdote

Christmas, 1983: I receive from my mother a present of a gift box of eight Mars Bars. I open it up, eagerly, and find that the four Mars Bars at one end have been gnawed open by something. There are shreds of paper in the box that the creature had torn off in its effort to get to the chocolate.

Well, I complained. I sent the whole lot back to Mars, and over a month later I got my reply.

I kept that reply:



When a letter contains a phrase as non-commital as, "it has been attacked by one of the pests that are known to attack stored foods", well, you have to keep it, don't you?
