You know what you're going to get in a Disney "classic". Right near the end, someone you care about gets killed, only — thank goodness! — they're not really dead. It happens in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Lady and the Tramp, Peter Pan, Aladdin — aw, pretty well all of them except Bambi. It's obviously a winning cliché.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was published yesterday.
