White Rabbits

When I was at primary school, aged 9, I was in a French lesson and the teacher said that the French for rabbit was lapin.

"Isn't that French for bread?" asked one of the girls in the class.

"I suppose that makes it easier to remember!" laughed the teacher.

It was over 30 years later when I finally discovered that it's le pain for bread, not la pain.

Damned misinforming teachers!
