Memory Tricks

Anecdote

In the paper today there were pictures of German Chancellor Angela Merkel in her youth. "Hmm", I thought, "she reminds me of...".

At that point, I stopped. I knew the face of the actress she reminded me of, and I knew what programmes she'd been in, but I couldn't bring her name to mind. All I could dredge up at the time was that her surname began with B.

Still, irritating though that is, it's not a problem for me as I can just set something up mentally and it'll come to me later. Alternatively, I could just look her up on the ol' Internet, as I know what she's been in.

I finished reading the paper, then went upstairs for something. On the way down, I thought to myself, "oh, I must look up Kathy Burke's name on the Internet".

Sigh.

If ever there's a British documentary about Angela Merkel, Kathy Burke must be a shoo-in to play her.
