Anecdote

This being Sunday, there was no chance that the train to London would actually get as far as London. The engineering works they did for the Olympics must have run out or something, because the train stopped at Stratford and I had to take the underground into London. Stratford is a complicated station with a lot of platforms, famous in the past for telling people the number of the platform their train is leaving from but not telling them what the number of each platform is. Nowadays, though, it tells you the platform number the whole time; the hard part is finding out which platform you need to go to to catch your train.

Fortunately, thanks to the legacy of the Olympics (which were at Stratford), there are now big TV screens everywhere:
