Not Present, Not Correct

Apparently, one of my colleagues was not present at the university yesterday while one of their exams was being taken. Being present on campus during exams is one of those three-line whip actions that the university insists on, in case one of the students has a query. If you're not present on campus and a student does have a query, what happens next goes something like this:

Are you dead?
If yes: your excuse is grudgingly accepted on compassionate grounds.
If no: you're dead.

There was indeed a student query yesterday, so I guess I'll find out which lecturer was involved when I look at the obituary column of this week's Essex County Standard...
