Miss Pronounced

Weird

Although Bartle is an unusualish surname (there are only around 3,000 of us in the UK), I'm not the only person in my family to have it. Also, although the name is routinely mis-spelled, it's also routinely mispronounced.

Two of my nieces from Wales visited yesterday. One is training to be a teacher, and reported that earlier this year she spent a week with a class of 11-year-olds in Wales. By the time she left, almost every child she'd come into contact with had gained the impression that her name was "Miss Sparkle".

I wonder whether they associated her more with the glitter kind of sparkle or the shiny surfaces kind? Knowing her, I'd plump for the former...
